Windjammer that's how we all start. First it's just a few extra parts. The before you know it Black Rifle Disease has taken hold and your able to build complete guns from your extra parts, maybe only buying a barrel or a receiver set...

Seriously nice build by the way. It looks like you have a great rifle there, and it's just what you wanted, not somebody else's idea of what a build should be.[emoji106]
The late great Carroll Shelby said a long time ago “if you can’t find what you want to drive BUILD IT”. I’ve always kept those words in mind on most all my AR builds along with other things I have built.

I had the opportunity to take my Granddaughter to the range (her dad was with us) and she was killing it with this build at 50 yrds.

This is 20 rounds of CCI 40 gr. hollow point standard velocity ammo.
She likes the way I can shorten the stock to fit her, and she manages the weight very well. But it is the color she loves, I have to admit it is not too bad, thankful she did not want pink.
This build ran just a bit more than $800 but the results was higher than expected. She has an AR she can add a new upper to for bigger ammo and it will last a lifetime.

After the Grand daughter shooting for about three years she started talking about something that would have a bit more for her AR. I installed my 223 barrel on her lower and she shot it and had no trouble with it. We talked and I gave here info on several that would work with her lower. Then she brought up the 6 MM ARC.
So here I go looking at parts and as of now I can get all the parts, but ammo is still very hard to find for that caliber. And the weight will get up around 8 to 9 pounds, with an 18" to 20" barrel. I think that with the ballistics from the 6 MM ARC, a shorter barrel would be a waste.

Looks like it's a lot of fun. Haven't done an AR build, myself. Must be satisfying to put together something and see it turn out well like that.

After much discussion the granddaughter has settled on a 300 blackout. She was thinking that would be best for deer hunting. With the deer hunting in this area, alot are shot within 200 yards, most within 100 yards.
And she added that if she wanted to varmint hunt she could just borrow my 223 upper.

My granddaughter has started playing clarinet in the HS band and this has taken all her time practicing and preforming.
With that I have been shooting this build and I have joined a group of older men that shoot scoped rimfire rifles, many are using bolt action with long barrel. I joined in early summer 25 and have been one of the top competitors with my simiauto short barrel AR. Over this summer I have tried different ammo and have found that this rifle does shoot one particular better than any other, that is not ot say it will shoot anything accurately. But the ammo I have found that realy stands out is CCI Subsonic 40 gr. Hollowpoints. I have tried CCI green tag, Pistol Match, Eley Match, tenx, Lapua, SK, and RWS. But my best scores are with the Subsonic hollowpoints.

Glad to see you're knockin' it out of the park, with this build. It's always fun to see that one special cartridge for a rifle that brings it all together.

With the particular parts selection you have, on this rifle, is there anything you might do differently if you were to do it all over again? Just wondering.

Funny, isn't it, how certain specific rifles seem to "like" a given round. Whether it's the smoothness of the brass, or the consistency of the powder expansion, or the shape of the bullet, for whatever reason a given barrel frequently seems to love a particular round. Had that with a factory Rem700 .243 barreled action, back when; most things shoot well from my Savage 110 6.5CM; but I have yet to find "the one" for my custom Savage 12 LRP 6.5CM.

Yes the charging handle, there have been some improvements with the ambidextrous charging handles. Radian, or a BCM ambidextrous is in my plans. Suprising that is the only change, or upgrade that I would do.

Have you considered the Beek Arms Warhammer (Mod 2)? Wider than most and very grippy.
