Hey Windjammer69 care to give us a bit of a review on that trigger? I've used a bunch of Hyperfire triggers just not that series. No need for technical just impressions of how it feels...

HyperFire EDT SS is the new model that replaced the Enhanced Duty Trigger. I have the older model in my second build and have shot around 15,000 rounds with the 556 and the 22 Lr upper from this build. Both come with two springs that are rated 4 1/2 #, or 5 1/2#. I installed the 4 1/2#, the actual pull weight turned out at 4.1 #. There is very very little creep, and the break is crisp. A very short reset that brings the trigger back to the break point with no creep. After shooting the first one I installed a second on a dedicated 22Lr that I sold to a good friend. The package comes with the trigger, spring and reset assymble with a small pin holding it together. When installing in the lower, the trigger pin pushed the short pin out for a smooth install. I made a very close inspection of the SS trigger before installing and it has a few small thing different. First you can install the safety before or after without any problems. The sear is a bit smoother polished and so far is working just as smooth. I found this trigger on sale for $98, with free shipping.

I have not fired any steel ammo so I don't have any information on them. But I have shot several different makes of ammo without any light primer strikes, and has never failed to fire.

While ordering the lower part I came across a Geissele Supper 42 spring and buffer, also on sale. After doing some research I have purchased it, with the intention of installing it in my 556 and compare it's function to the JP spring and Spikes buffer.

The Hogue pistol grip and but stock are in ghillie green and the Ergo rail covers are their predator pattern and they are very close in color.

I got the the range and did some test on this build. From a standing position shooting 50 yds.

With Federal Match.

With CCI AR, not to bad for a 68 year old guy.

View attachment 215462 I realized that I did not list all the parts, the trigger guard, castle nut, and plate where Guntec. The buffer tube was UTG, when I was fitting everything together, I noticed how precise all the parts where. Everything fit good and tigh. And I used the buffer and spring from my second build( JP spring and Spikes buffer).
One thing about the CMMG lower kit, the dents for the take down and pivot pin are very secure. It takes a light tap to get the pins to move, that may smooth out later. The PSA lower parts where not as tight, even from the very beginning.

Mine is cast offs and left overs fitted together with duct tape and bailing wire compared to that. Very nice sir, very nice, good shooting indeed.

I hear you, as I build more rifles, and upgrade there are a few parts left over. I have a wood shot shell box that is beginning to fill up with extra parts.
I am hoping that soon there will be enough to build a complete rifle.

Windjammer that's how we all start. First it's just a few extra parts. The before you know it Black Rifle Disease has taken hold and your able to build complete guns from your extra parts, maybe only buying a barrel or a receiver set...

Seriously nice build by the way. It looks like you have a great rifle there, and it's just what you wanted, not somebody else's idea of what a build should be.[emoji106]

Anytime I see parts on sale I go ahead and get them. I know they will be used sooner or later. I always keep an extra stripped upper and lower in the box.

I know what you mean about some of the PSA stuff. Their parts do vary. You never know whose parts they are selling you. Don't think they really manufacture, just assemble and and sell others parts. But, they are cheap at times price wise.

My Granddaughter did not like the Gillie green, she wanted Purple. So I started looking. Found a Guntec trigger guard.

Then a Hogue furniture set.

And Ergo keymod handguard grips.

I hope she likes the look.

I had purchased a Caldwell bipod for my 556 and installed it on this build to try it out. It defantly increased accuracy, so this is where it stays.
