I'm an FFL/SOT Holder and i totaly disagree with your comment re opposing the registry to escalate Class III values.I personally know dozens of machine gun owners and i have never heard any of them mnention anything like that..To a person, current Class III owners would love to see
a machine gun registry and reasonable pricing for Class III firearms
It's hard to make a profit on machine guns and silencers uless you have been doing it a long time and are very well connected.An M16 for $18K or an MP5 for $14K hardly leaves much room for profit.Dealers are lucky if they can make $100 profit on a suppressor.

Sixgun, You are replying to a 2 year old post. While most of us on the forum agree with the point, I think it is a dead issue until we get enough pro gun senators and congress in order to override the president's veto. In any case, let the thread die please. I think it has been beat to death until circumstances change in our favor. We just barely stopped another AWB a couple of days ago.

SMG's can be affordable
MAC 10 or Mac 11 under $5K is a great first SMG...with a Gemtech Viper suppressor, an awesone machine gun. that is totally reliable and parts are readily available, though i have never seen one breakdown!
I have an Ingram MAC 10 45 Powder Springs (the most collectible and valuable..stay away from the LA or TX MACS...the welds are prone to failure)
You can find Sten guns around $4K.
But yes, the more popular and exotic SMG's, like M16's,Thompsons,MP 5, MG 40 and 42,BAR's (most expensive) can get very expensive as do crew served ,belt fed, MG's.
But nothing as much fun as shooting full auto if you like guns! Plus, there are MG competitions now all over the country if you want to compete.

You are right about the fun of shooting machine guns. But damn if it doesn't cost a fortune in ammo for even a brief trip. The only times I have shot the things was as a guest of someone who was well-heeled enough to not be concerned about such trivial things as shooting up a thousand bucks a trip.

The only reason I mention Mr. Mendiola, is I have known him personally since the 1990s. He is an honorable gentleman. He is one of my "right wing" buddies who just can't believe that I am a liberal Democrat.

I couldn't agree with you more..Mr. Mendiola is a superb purveyor of MG's and a class act to talk to and to do business with.Probably nobody in the SOT/Class III biz has a better rep than Mr. Mendiola.I was simply posting an alternative, who happens to also be a class act and a personal friend,Frank Goephert.

The 45 acp is an easy cartridge to reload, and being a reloader for a lifetime, that's why i prefer the 45 MAC 10 for pure fun.If you handload 45, not as costly by far as factory ammo.

It's simple economics. The machine guns are already being manufactured in huge numbers, and market price for an M16 is under $1000. For civilians, though, the supply is fixed by the inability to register any new ones. Closing the registry caused the price for civilian transfers to increase 2000%. LE transfers are still at market price. Reopening the registry will restore civilian transfers to market price.

As to winning one fight at a time, it can't be done because the opposition is fighting several fronts at once. We can't turn a blind eye to the assault on our liberties from all fronts. They are setting the agenda and we're losing our liberties bit by bit.

It doesn't matter whether we give them a new target -- they're coming for us anyway. We're already losing. Keep that in mind. In fact let's give them a target. Keep them moving, deplete their resources, and engage. It's time to change our tactics; we need to take the offensive instead of continuing to react.

If we don't use the political processes at our disposal, we're just handing them victory. Give me a fighter. Who's with me?

As far as I can tell on my perception the feds don't want people owning fully autos in the first place. Yeah I'd love to get that nice class 3 permit in the mail like alot of you all but for one it's a ton of paperwork, notified home inspection by atf, I have NO where I could shoot one at as most ranges prohibit fully automatic anything, agree on how expensive the firearms are to begin with. And what really constitutes the difference of something fully auto and semi? Is it that much different? I'm not a gun expert but I'm no novice either. I figured it was more expensive just because the fact of it being automatic. And if they are coming for us all I can say is good luck! All of my cop friends would quit their jobs if they were told to start collecting guns.
