howdy! im new here, but lets skip all that eh? i have a yugo sks with the ever popular grenade launcher attachment. i dont mind it, i think it looks pretty cool. but as of now it is serving no purpose. i was thinking about drilling holes all around it and making it like a big *** muzzle brake. do yall think it would work?

I have a Yugo also, and the grenade mount is held on with a drift pin. You can remove it and replace it with a standard SKS muzzlebrake. Of course in NY I can't have a muzzle brake, so I can't do that! I think drilling through that steel would be much harder than you think...

Bingo!
I think I am going to keep my Grenade Launcher - when the SHTF you never know if some NATO grenades will become available! Also, Cheaper than Dirt sells a Golf Ball launcher to fit on the end! I never did like Golf, but I think I can get used to playing it like that....

im so in those nato grenades!!!!! i will start adding blank ammo to my shopping list.... i have seen those golf ball launchers, real neat! but the real nato ones look likely would break your shoulder if you shot it from there.

Be warned friskydingo, I you buy one of those nato grenade adapters, do not launch it with the rifle shouldered. I made this mistake when I fired my first grenade. I got my Nato grenade from a gun show at the Knob Creek Range in West Point, Kentucky.

You are supposed toplace the butt of the rifle on the ground or against the meaty portion of your thigh...you could probably shoulder it when shooting a golf or tennis ball however.

I think anything you can do to get rid of that ugly grenade adaptor is a good thing. My norinco sks never had that adaptor on it, and I think it looks right. The yugo's just look odd to me. You should try to mod yours, or put it in the closet and buy a commercial-made brake that doesn't look so massively huge.

I like mine, already has the holes around the end of the grenade launcher already and old one 1970 unissued, I need to pick up one of the practice grenades and some blanks. If you just happen to get a hold to some of those actual grenade launch blanks don't put the butt of the rifle agents any part of your body or something will be broken. just in case you want to change out the launcher here area few replacement brakes you might like, there threaded to fit the YUGO http://brakes.ricksmuzzlebrakesandgunstuff.com/
