I've noticed that alot of people on this app love sweet tea and so do I. Whats your favorite recipe?
easy! Red Diamond sweet tea!
1. Make tea.
2. Cool tea.
3. Set pitcher of said tea on sideboard.
4. Place bowl of lemon wedges (with tongs) nearby.
5. Place bowl of sugar (with spoon) nearby.
6. Add either as required.
Boil a pot (8 cups?, not sure of pot volume) of water. Remove from heat (If you boil the water with the tea bags in the pot it will make for bitter tea). Place 6-8 standard sized Lipton or Luzianne tea bags in the pot and cover with the lid. Let sit for 20 minutes. Get your tea pitcher and put one cup of sugar in the bottom with a little water. You can use a plastic pitcher but for God's sake, don't ever make Kool Ade in it. It will forever be ruined for tea. Poor in your tea and add water to fill up the pitcher. Stir. Let tea cool to room temp and then place in fridge. Add lemon wedges to tea after it's poured in your glass. Next you'll be wanting to know how to make grits? lol
This will make one gallon of sweet tea. Boil 2 quarts of water. then put 4 large tea bags of your favorite brand in the boiling water for 10 minutes. Pour the hot tea in a pitcher/s. Add one cup of sugar, maybe more if you have a sweet tooth. Stir until the sugar has dissolved in the hot tea. Add cold water until you get one gallon. Place in refrigerator. Let the tea steep for 3 hours. Then find a tuperware glass like Ci uses on duck dynasty. Serve tea on large ice cubes.
I prefer to add the sugar to cold water and boil down until you have a thin syrup. Add enough tea bags for a "Black" tea. Add to clear cold water and refrigerate.
Threaten sever bodily harm to anyone who trys to add lemons to your tea. This recipe was carried West by folks from North Carolina, Oh so long ago.
Thanks guys I'll try all of these
the best sweet tea recipe belonged to my grandmother. it went with her when she passed away.
Edit: McCool is proofreading again!
I do mine like John_Deer. No more than one cup. But I add a tea spoon of baking soda. Takes the bite out.
Axxe will be missed.
leave it to McCool to capitalize on my typo!
Does anyone remember sun tea? It was not great.
How about sassafras tea? It was awful.
How was the other side?
Am I in trouble?
i like sun tea, but it takes quite awhile for it to make.
you're cool Boats!
Real Cane Sugar
when i make tea at the house on th rare occasion, i use Luzianne. i have used this brand for a number of years now. when i make tea at the house, i drink it unsweetened. Luzianne has the best flavor for unsweet tea IMO.
looks like Red Diamond is now making tea in bags for brewing. if i find any in the stores i am going to try some out.
Sorry, don`t drink sweet tea !...................
Whew! Guess I can continue on with my disolute life then.
