at least an XD is safe to shoot out of the box.....you have to put a heat treated barrel in a Glock to make it safe from KB's !

XD has a better trigger, the grip safety is a plus AND not having to pull the trigger to disassemble is a REAL plus !

My vote : XD .......and especially XDM...nice shootin iron !

I say Glock, not that there is anything wrong with XD's. I just prefer the feel of a Glock and I shoot it much better. Chances are most of you would not like the same women as me either. So to each their own.

As anyone who knows me well could tell you: I ain't no Kool-Aid drinker. I, quite possibly, hold some kind of record for arguing more often with more mindless Glockaholics over at Glock Talk than ANY of the other regular posters.

This, now, being said: I want you to know that I think you should get some kind of award for the most misinformed bull-hooey post I have ever read - on any website, anywhere - disparaging a Glock.

I'd like to know what's so great about a pistol with plastic slide rails, a bore axis high enough to give you a nose bleed, and expensive MANDATORY FACTORY SERVICE on the XD's constantly expanding load of superfluous gizmos. Every time something breaks, and you need to get it repaired, Springfield gets to hose you down just like the oil companies! So go ahead, tell me what's so great?

If you're going to BS people on the internet, at least, calm down your vivid imagination and come up with stuff that sounds a whole lot more believable!

If is was going for a 45 I would choose an XD. If the SHTF I would go for a Glock, any Glock. Just because parts are largely available for Glocks and they really will eat any ammo you put in it.

im not to familiar with the XDs but i have shot a G17 and i love the feel of it...its so crisp..but the acuracy to me isnt as good as the M92f...

In my opinion, if Glock would change their grip and grip angle, they would be best, but they keep the too large grip, with the butt that points to the rear, so that mr Average Joe with smaller hands, can't get comfortable and has to constantly readjust his/her grip. XD solved that problem. I don't understand what 21.45 means by the trigger job. I traded a G22 with a 3 1/2 pound trigger that I couldn't hit with consistently for an XD40 that was great out of the box...comfortable, accurate and soft shooting. I have to agree that Glocks are easy to work on and customize, but my XD didn't need any customization and it will shoot lead wad cutters.

The XD is hell on my thumb for the slide release lever. I cannot do it with one hand. That alone makes it unworthy IMO. My first Glock was a beast and never failed me as a duty weapon. The newer ones are even more comfortable, though I don't own any.

Didn't you know that after market barrel manufacturing for Glock pistols is now the number one money maker in the world? If you own stock in any manufacturer you will become a multi millionaire even faster than if you own a majority of Chevron. Millions of aftermarket "heat treated" Glock barrels are back ordered to replace the sub-standard ones currently found on one of the most widely used pistols on the planet, to avoid "ka-booms". I once knew a guy who heard from his cop friend that read a magazine article written by a guy who heard a range instructor say that he remebered hearing something about Glock barrels being prone to failure.

Ohhh G21, you, and millions of others all over the world are so ill-informed!!!

And Mark, I aquired all of my Glock pistols in trade... For bags of rocks. Did I get taken?

David Olhasso won the Custom Defensive Pistol division at the 2007 IDPA National Championships, using an XD45. He beat out numerous 1911 .45 shooters to win the title. Not bad for a "plastic gun".

By the way, I own several 1911's, and think the world of them. However, I also own multiple XD's, and also think quite highly of them. When it comes to handguns, I'm definitely not a "one-trick pony".
