    With all things being equal (price, availability, etc.) which way would you go? I am about to order one and can not decide which way to go.

    :confused::confused::confused:

    You're right. On second thought, I'd just buy another 1911.

    And I would be inclined to agree with you. But that, unfortunately, wasn't the question....

    Am I the only one who loves mine without? If I wanted a thumb safety I would have bought a 1911....

    With! The new XD(m) version has some major modifications as well as the comfortable thumb safety (higher capacity mags, improved grip...though I didn't think that it could be improved!

    x2 on with. Add to the list a new model from spfd that would be a single stack, thinner, model than the xd compact and I would be all over it for cc.

    With the thumb safety. To me it's the best combination of readiness and safety. Easier to draw and sweep the safety with one hand than to rack the slide.

    My 9mm and 40cal are without the thumb safety but my new 45 has it. I like the thumb safety better....:D
