Just bought myself an XD 40 service pistol and my wife an XD 40 Sub-Compact. Waiting on the registration process now. Can't wait to go shoot em.

Thanks. It sure feels good in my hand. Now just gotta hit the range and light it up! That's gonna be a lot of fun!

You may want to change who is firing the subcompact. Dependent on load it can bite the trigger finger some. Not overly uncomfortable but may make the wife flinch after this happens. Have noticed this with the 180 gr. Remington rounds. Need to have a firm grip to keep this from happening.

Please explain what you mean by "bite the trigger finger". Thanks

The trigger safety can pinch your finger when fired. I do not know if it is because of the short frame and the recoil or just my hand size. Just a warning for someone new.

Also just wanted to say that I love the weapon even when this occurs.

Me neither. Never heard of this type of thing. Not sure how it would even be possible.

Only thing I can figure is he is dragging his finger along the bottom of the trigger well, and if he is and can't figure out how to rectify that issue, well, I'll let it go there.

Finally got to go out and fire off some rounds! I think I've fallen in love with my XD-40. That is one sweet piece of action!

I have a XD40SC. Just a thought, but if your wife is not an experienced pistol shooter who has learned to deal with recoil over time, she may find it to be a bit of a challenge. It is not a beginners pistol. I've been a handgun shooter most of my life, and I find the XD40 to be work to shoot really well. Run a box of CCI Lawman 180s through it and you will see what I mean.
If your wife is an experienced and excellent pistol shooter, then I beg your ( & her) pardon. It's worth noting nonetheless.
Note: Mine has never pinched me.
You do however need to place your thumb carefully when shooting it. If you don't, it's very easy to have it interfere with the slide release and cause it to not lock back on an empty mag.

40 is a snappy round anyways, this is one reason I went with a 9mm in my XD Sub Compact.

Thanks for the info. However, my wife is not an experienced shooter however she is a quick learner and has already shown she can handle her XD Sub. First mag she ran through it she hit the target three times (on a down hill slope). No bullseyes but that will come with time and practice. Appreciate all the insight! Love this forum!
