WWII submarine group to give up name

    The oldest is 102 the youngest is 86. We are loosing the greatest generation one hero at a time. We owe so much to that group and for the most part have repaid them with apathy.

    None of us live forever. Thousands of the vets are dying every day. Their history and thier memory will always remain, as long as we remember.

    To get a feel of how these guys lived, read Thunder Below, by Eugene Flukey. A great book that reads like a novel. Flukey won the MOH.

    Clear the Bridge, by Richard O'kane. A fighting sub during the early part of the war, by one of the most successful commanders.

    Silent Victory By Clay Blair, Jr. A history of undersea WWII boats.

    i had numerous friends and relatives who fought in WWII: The vast majority are gone now. They were the greatest generation.
