I found milsurp on bulk ammo.com for (I think) $8.99 per box of 20.

That's about $450/1000. I'd like to see ~ $300/1000

Hell, maybe I'm dreaming!:p

Better go look. I THINK I saw 1k for 350 somewhere.I'm shopping for prices and availability.

I handled an M1A for the first time at Academy last night. Absolutely fell in love. For me, it balanced absolutely perfectly, was robust yet not unduly heavy, and the attention to detail... Who the hell checkers the face of a peep to reduce glare? Springfield does.

I was just casually browsing ammo prices. I'd love to own the rifle one day, but even if I'm able to save up, I'd have a hard time justifying that price. It was a standard version, walnut, 1.5K. And the ammo ain't cheap.
you really need to reload. your dream goal of 300 per 1000 is still more than i pay for that ammount with a little bit of labor.

I do reload, Jon.:)

But sometimes I really like to go out to the hills with some steel/berdan
that I don't have to worry about reloading, and I don't cry if I lose a few cases.:p
