OK, I'm throwing this out there... the Benelli M4 Shotgun has one of the fastest semi-auto actions out there, bar none. Here's a demonstration.

How about this...eight shots in just a smidge over 1 second.

Shotgun in the video has had no modifications to its trigger or action, in any way, just a full length mag tube installed.

Find something faster in a semi-auto?

Post it up here, but remember...eight shots in 1.2 seconds...has to be that fast or faster.

A lot has to do with the skill of the shooter, but I'd bet a Saiga 12 would be right up there.

controlled shots or just hail mary.....
If you're talking about controlled shots, I don't believe there's much difference between any of them.

The gas guns like the M-4 or Rem 1100 might be slightly faster than the M-2 or the old 11-47 due to the reduced recoil of gas guns. But the difference, if any, is more theoretical than practical.

I've always been told the inertia action of the M2 Benelli was faster than the ARGO M4.
My former PD Sgt (now deceased) had an M2 shorty and loved to show off how he could empty the gun (6+1) before the first ejected round hit the ground. That is hardly scientific though!
I own an M4 and it is faster than I am.

This thread is like comparing a semi auto pistol to a revolver. Any idiot can miss faster with a semi auto pistol than a revolver. But when you compare IDPA times the revolvers are just as fast as the semi autos. The same thing applies to shotguns. The pumps are just as fast as the semi auto shotguns at actually hitting a target with a full power load. The muzzle flips just as much with a semi auto as a pump. It's more about the shooter than the gun.

Regardless of how fast the gun is. It's going to come down to the shooter. Most guns seam to be faster than any shooter is capable of pulling. But I might be wrong. (Anyone bump fire a shotgun lol)

That's not quite true. A gas gun has half the recoil of a pump, so recovery time is less.

I can get off controlled shots faster with an 1100 than I can with my Benelli M-2.

There isn't a lot of difference, but there is a difference.

im more impressed with someone who can reach into a factory box, pull out a gun and do unbelievable things with it....unlike those that have custom built race guns made to custom specs.
herb parsons comes to mind. why? he represented winchester, and his goal was to show that if you owned a winchester, you could with practice do exactly what he was doing.
watching miculek do his thing just shows me what miculek can do with his toys, well outside my reach.

having a gun that is the fastest shooting semi isnt impressive.
heck, herb shot 10 clays in the air....WITH A PUMP. and the record stood for years. and was only beat by.....a semi.

3 ...custom guns.

i know so many champs with custom guns it would make your head spin.

hand them YOUR GUN and they panic.

one of my drills is to shoot a different gun every day.
so, if you hand me YOUR GUN, you shake my hand later.
