    What is the measurement of the flat part of the "hooks"?
    3/8"?

    It looks like the clips fit between two sheets of drywall and give added support for something like a chair rail or other trim piece to be screwed into. My only guess!

    im thinking sheet rock joints.

    now i see. "allows for a joint between studs, so you dont have to cut back to the nearest stud."
