    ok, yes its a vise/clamp of some sorts, but what kind of project would it hold? its only 12". is it used in a drill press or mill?

    Small unit, meant to be portable around a jobsite- perhaps for bending flashing?

    In the manufacturing processes , they make all types of accessories. To aid in mass production and most of these devices are to aid in repetitive production modes , all pieces the same...!

    PS:this is obviously from a much larger machine from the days of old...!

    I would think it not enough clamp area to bend much length , but I could be wrong..! ....?

    Its a vise to hold a hand saw for sharpening and resetting the teeth. I have one and have used it and the saw set to work on my handsaws.
    Now what did I win? LOL

    and the threaded part with the t-handle is probably so you can clamp it to a bench when using it?

    Yes and when I can find it in my shop I will take a pic of it with a saw clamped in it and if Im lucky I can find the saw set tool too.(It's used to bend the teeth on the saw to get the kerf on the blade.)

    thanks guys. i hate throwing away things not knowing what they are.
    in this case, its worth cleaning up for someone and i'll send it on its new life restored.
    dad use to sharpen his saws. makes sense he had this.
