Will be trying to reduce their numbers & take some pressure off the elk, moose and deer population.

This is an alpha-male, stretched 8ft, which is huge for a non-arctic wolf!

That is fantastic. Tell us a little about the hunt and where you hunted. As always I can not get over how big some of them are! Mentally we do not think of them being that big! What rifle and caliber rifle did you use?

Well done. Wolves are just about the hardest animal to successfully hunt on this continent.

Looks like you made a good shot on him, too. I picked a big female off an elk years ago and she stretched about the same. They are not small.

The Government Dogs are a serious problem in the West. These animals are used by the Leafiest Green movement to control public lands use.
The Wolves are used to control elk, moose etc. and reduce access to hunting by the public. Their habitat protection is used to ban mineral exploration and grazing. :(

The German grey wolf was killed off. But now they have returned from the Northern countries. Wolf packs are growing at a fast rate. Two wolves have been seen in my area. A hunter shot the first one, and had to pay a huge fine. Wolves are not on the German hunting list.

I saw a show on Animal Planet this evening called wolves vs mountain lions. It was a good show. They will replay it later this week. Animal planet is going to show predator vs predator shows all week. They showed a wolf killed by mountain lions but no wolves killing mountain lions. They did show where wolves stole a deer from a mountain lion.

Not fair poor wolfy :( he just wanted to feed the puppies. I guess its good though since it helps the deers. I always wondered if anyone tried to hunt wolf with just a knife? Now that would be a fair fight :D I'm bored sorry

I was called in by a community pasture manager as he had lost 14 calves to wolves.
You like horses, don't you? Well this wolf pack pulled down a defenseless colt.
I am not interested in staging a "fair fight" , I'm trying to rein in the surplus of wolves. This will contradict your peta forum haunts, but the "balance of nature" is a Dysney myth.

You're showing your lack of wildlife knowledge-the commonly used plural of deer is deer.

    update wolf control...

I've been locked out of this site for a while-suspect that POS TAPATALK insisting that I use it.

The wolves answered every time & kept closing. A single animal would howl with sometimes the whole pack joining in.
There was no wind, but my cattail fluff indicated NW air currents.
Then the closing howls began to swing south, into the air flow.
The next opening south was a third of a mile & I took off running.
On arriving at the clear-iced beaver dam, I saw the smoking hot tracks of the pack, along with still steaming urine distain-markings.
    I had been flanked!
    There will be another meeting...

Let me know if you enjoy hearing of this type of hunt and I will give a live feed of the next encounter.
