I have a Winchester model 94 that is in fantastic shape, although its fairly old. The lever action though is a bit rough. The dilema is ill pull it down half way and then need to give it another good yank to go all the way...I'd prefer it to be a smooth quick motion. What should I do? Oil or grease it? Or any other things that will make it better..unless it is suppose to be like that.

    Thank you.

Sticky mechanisms can usually be freed up by oiling and working the action. This works all of the crud out of the mechanism and works the oil into it.

Take it to a smith. Or if you really don't want to go through all the hassle, send it to me!!!!! :D I'll make sure it doesn't bother you again.....

I also would take it to a good gunsmith. Took one of these apart for a extensive clean and lube, had to suck up my pride and take it to a smith with parts in a shoe box. He did not charge me much to put it back together, and the action worked great. As luck would have it several people in his shop when I took it in. Think mine was in a Winchester 32 Special - was sold many years ago.
