OK, one more. What would you be willing to pay for a classic shotgun like this?
I'd be interested, but YOU tell ME.
I have no idea. That's why I ask. 700
Want me to look it up on Gunbroker for ya?
Please. I am driving and at work can't look now. You are the greatest.
How old? What condition?
Old Superspeed SuperX. Good Condition to slightly better. 1940s
Aren't those the ones that will fire as soon as the shell is chambered if you just keep the trigger pulled, like repeatedly?
All I could find were mid-1950s models that are going with a "Buy It Now" of anywhere from $675 to $970.
And the fact that I'm using my 6,000th post to do this for you just goes to show how very much you mean to me.
$700 and it is yours.
Oh yeah right. Sacrificing something epic for my 6,000th post in order to be of service to you should be worth MUCH more than that.
I believe you're thinking about the model 1897 if I'm not mistaken.
I know there is a very nice looking one on the used rack at the local Gander Mountain for $450. I've looked at it twice in the past couple weeks and I quite frankly just don't need another 12 gauge pump.
The Model 12 does fire as soon as it is pumped if you just hold down the trigger. The one that I have looked at also has the slide come down by gravity if it is released in the vertical position. The Model 12 was recently featured on Gun Nuts.
I don't know the worth but my brother-in-law has one that his father bought when he was young. I've heard the story from him before how he got the grap kicked out of him the first time he found out that it would fire if he pumped the action with the trigger pulled. Still a nice gun in my opinion, very old and very used and still runs like a champ.
I've got one my dad bought new in 53.
I have had quite a few model 12's and am a student of this model. A few photo's will help along with approx serial number range.
Ithaca Model 37 is what your thinking of.
I can't show picks. But I'm Looking for my cousin who has his fathers Mod 12 with the hammer. Is this what you all are talkin about.
The model 12 will slam fire as well as the model 97.
