My neighbor brought me a Wincester Model 1897 that does not have a barrel.
Everything thing else seems to be in good working order. He wants me to try to find a barrel. I am trying to figure out what type it is. From what I can see there are numerous model 1897's, ie. Riot gun, regular shotgun, etc. How can I figure out what barrel to try to locate? I have a picture I can send via "E" mail.

Thanks

Start by checking these out. First is a parts breakdown, second is a good manual, third and fourth are parts (for sale). They came in two basic types, Takedown (common) and Solid Frame (not so common).
