So as you all know and heard IPHONE 5 launched on Friday sep 21st AND that date when I lost faith in our current system
I have known about food stamps and TCA fraud I know about the scum that goes to casino and strip clubs with TCA and buying wedding cakes with food stamps
let me give u an idea on my situation . I work for company witch carry’s all top 3 cellphone providers which means I had the I PHONE at launch I had ppl lined up before I open the store I was very happy and was anticipating a good day in business and profit I could not have asked for anything better little did I know I was going to die A little inside that day
1st few transaction were amazing then IT HAPPNED my 1st guest that wanted to pay for their PHONE with TCA I FROZE for a few I didn’t believe what I was seeing it was an $800 device then a glimmer of hope when system refused to take the TCA card and even though I was on the receiving end of some attitude and complaining I was very happy BUT that feeling didn’t last long. For some of you who don’t know how TCA works unlike food stamps even though it’s on the same card u can use an ATM and pull cash out and that’s exactly what happened
And I had to put my foot up my mouth and accept that cash since I’m in no possession to refuse it. That happened 3x that day alone in some form or another
They call this democracy! Is that how socialism works? If so how come I work and pay my dues and can’t afford to buy the same device outright?! Why do I have to be responsible and make sure my financial situation is in order if another lives the high life on my expense? Of course I don’t need an answer to this question but shouldn’t others who argue socialism and the redistribution of wealth ask themselves that same question!!!!!

That why when Welfare and Foodstamps started, nobody got money ever, just vouchers, Milk, Cheese and other staples. Some of the highest quality food products on the market and it helped support US Farmers as well. We have progressed so far in those years, now you can buy an I phone and new $150 kicks with your Socal cha-ching!

Even when the purchases are limited at the register, unscrupulous folks have 50 ways to work around that. One of the common tricks is to buy 100 in food, but never leave the store with it, just trade down for a 30 pack of stones and some munchies.

I receive ssi and ssdi and still struggle month to month. Using my credit card is the only thing that helps me through the month. $450 isn't much to live on-thankfully I don't pay rent, but I still have difficulties. .

WIC still works that way. The parents get vouchers that say they can get so many gallons of milk, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, dried beans, etc. But it isn't that way with food stamps.

I still believe we should go back to distributing commodities. No one would go hungry.

Let them go to the warehouse and get powdered milk, cheese, canned goods, Spam, sardines etc. If our troops can drink powdered milk and eat Spam, then the welfare baby factories won't choke on it.

another problem is many of these people have lived on welfare and food stamps for so long they have learned how to abuse the sytems to their advantage. another one that gripes me is, those who claim and recieve disability, when in truth, they are nothing more than just lazy!

BTW, someone on welfare has no business owning an $800 I-Phone. IMO, if they want one, get a job and buy one. they are a luxury item, not a needed item like food or clothing or shelter.

The more things change, the more they stay the same

30 years or so ago I was checking out at a Winn Dixie grocery store. W-D had store brand bleach on sale for 1 cent for a gallon. The shopper in front of me redeemed a $5 food stamp certificate and got $4.99 change.

I am sure the $4.99 was saved for the next trip to the W-D for milk & eggs. :p

I agree. When I was filling out my information for disability the man behind me was too. When asked what his disability was, he said he had chronic back pain. Unfortunately he received disability. I worked until the day I was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed was end stage renal failure last year. Once I was released I tried returning to work and school but it was just impossible at that time so I had no choice but to apply for disability, I refuse to apply for food stamps though.

chronic back pain? damn, i better go ahead and apply for disability then. sounds like a lazy bum to me. i have chronic back pain. i have impacted and herniated discs in my neck and lower back and had my spine fractured when i was a teenager, and i still crawl out of bed everyday and go to work. i eat Advil and Ibuprophen like M&M's everyday just to ease some of the pain.

yeah i could probably apply for disability, but as long as i can at least crawl out of bed and go to work, i'll keep right on working. now i would like one of those handicapped tags for my car so i could park closer to the stores and not have to walk so far!

What has been the worst for me is that I receive more money each month NOT working than I would if I worked- which is a bunch of crap. I haven't been able to find a full time job that I can actually do physically (I can't lift over 25lbs because of my catheter, and can't stand for hours on end without massive swelling). Before I got sick I always worked on horse farms 40-50hrs/week and did great for a 20 year old. Now the part time office jobs just don't cut it.

I'd rather work, but it came down to the fact that I made $25 more working than I did just receiving disability, and that was last fall. Now with gas at $4.00/gallon I'd be in the hole!

savvy, nobody with a heart in America is against helping those in need. Unfortunately we all have seen well too many people take advantage of our generosity and nothing seems to be done to change that.

We have a serious welfare/redistribution problem and as long as we look to politicians to fix it, it's not going away. Stores and individuals are going to have to refuse service to ebt customers for non-food products. That's the only out I see.

I posted it before, but a guy in front of me inline at the grocery store used his "bridge" card to buy some pretty nice foods that I couldn't afford, and then used his credit card to buy high end beer, liquor, and cigarettes. Must be nice to live like the rich!

I think this would be a great time to Identify what a taxpayer is. If you receive more unearned income from Government Agencies than you pay in Taxes; Your Not a Taxpayer, your a Tax Eater!

Some certainly deserve Public assistance but so many fall far short of doing what they can do to help themselves before they require Taxpayer Funded entitlements to supplement or support entirely their existence.

People that are on social security/disability and can't keep a bank account have a TCA card. If they are buying Iphones with their disability check explains why they can't keep a bank account.

I have nothing against success but when someone makes 14 million a year pays a lower tax rate than someone with a business that is folding up right before their eyes that is the problem. I have never made a million dollars in a year but I have paid a lot more than 14% in my taxes. You all are worried about the guy that is getting a few hundred a month from the government. That so small minded on so many frikin levels. Lets get a fair frikin tax code. When I am paying at 23% and I am doing 1/5 the business I was doing 10 years ago I should be able to claim a loss to rebuild my business.

People that are the salt of the earth farmers, construction, auto repair. Stuff you can't live without. They are the ones carrying the load. People who just kick a bunch of money around pay very little or nothing. Moreover, they produce nothing either. If I move over $10k out of the country to buy livestock I have to do so much paperwork and hire so many lawyers it's not worth my while. But when you are moving millions to the Cayman Islands for a tax holiday you can afford a couple lawyers and a staff to take care of the paperwork.

I hear it all the time, "The poor pay taxes on everything they buy thats taxed so that makes them taxpayers". This is said about Illegal Aliens also.

No different than calling yourself a winner for hitting a $500 Jackpot. When you started with $1000 and leave with $500, your not a winner! Your just not as big a loser as you could have been.
