I'm gonna have to go with the Beatles. My two favorite songs by them are Come Together, and Sergent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.

I like the Beatles and have two of their CD's in my car CD player right now. I also have a Beach Boys CD in my car, just not currently in the player. Years and years ago, when I was young :)() the crowd I worked with would go see the Beach Boys whenever they came into town. We'd cook out then go to the concert. We probably went 4 or 5 times before they stopped coming around or we all got married and got busy with kids.

So, basically, I like them both.

I voted Beach Boys, as on this day I'm feeling a bit uncharitable towards anything British. :D

I truly like the Beach Boys, their harmonies are outstanding and they helped popularize "Surf Music". However, the Beatles changed music in a way that brought about an entirely new rock n' roll and they continue to influence new generations of musicians.

Beatles...at the end of the day just look at record sales and legacy...Both popular but the Beatles are clearly a bit more.

Music Opinion wise...the Music and lyrics of the Beatles' music is more complex and there is a great variety of style....I mean cmon...they basically invented what rock would become with with some of their songs...

    -MY FAVORITES-
    Let it Be
    Helter Skelter
    While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    Here Comes the Sun

It's not about record sales. There are many groups that outsell and are more popular than others, that doesn't mean the are better.

ABBA sold more records than The Rolling Stones, it doesn't make them better.

For me, The Beatles by far, but I loved the Beach Boys, too. Could never get in to that "Pet Sounds" album, though, which many critics say is one of the top five rock albums of all time. To me, it sounds like they're trying to be....The Beatles.

Have you sat down and listened to the instrumentation and arrangements of Brian Wilson?
