.270 or .308
which has better range?
any info would be helpful and appreciated.
.308 is probably cheaper to buy, in most circumstances.
.270 has a flatter trajectory, and higher muzzle velocity, IIRC.
Range is a push, given the choices, IMO, you've got the heavier .308
VS the faster, lighter, .270, which is going to shed velocity quicker.
It's a buck-dancer's choice, bud. YMMV.
First, welcome to the forum.
There are tons of surplus .308 rounds to be had on the cheap.
As far as distance, I think that is negligable considering both rounds have been proven time and time again to be effective hunting rounds at distances greater than 200 yards. Neither are super long distance rounds, imho.
As far as buying target grade factory ammunition the .308 Win. is cheaper to shoot and factory target ammunition is available.
thanks for your help all.
i appreciate it.. i favor the .308 as well and think thats what i will be getting.
