It would depend on you, and what you expect from the firearm. Are you going to carry for personal protection, target shoot, or have it for home defense?

Drop by the Introductions thread and tell us something about yourself, and what brought you to the FTF when you get a chance.

Looks like you'll have to get a 1911 so your username will make sense.

For a witch gun I would think a super soaker. Water worked for Dorothy.

Do you...Have a 1911? Your name indicates that you have interest in them.So if you don't then the problem is solved. But if you already have one then..SO WHAT?!?!?!? The only thing better than one 1911 is two 1911s!
A 357 is pretty nice to have tough. But every time I get one I end up selling it off to get something else. I've been wanting to get a revo-lever rifle combo and maybe I'll break the cycle of madness. That is unless some really nice 1911 comes along. Then all bets are off!

A 1911 even in single stack beats the round count against most 357s.;)

With a 45 you need to shoot only once to stop hostilities from a bad one it is claimed.:)

I have some 357's but prefer my 45 for carry::D

They are both essential handguns. Get at least one of each as your budget allows.

Get one of each while the feds still allow it. If this is your first handgun, the wheel gun might be a bit simpler to understand.

    What bet did you lose?

I've been trying to make up my mind about this same question. For some reason a 1911 has been calling my name, even though I have 3 perfectly good 9mm's. I also have been missing my 586 S&W that I traded away to get my wife a shotgun. The Chiappa revolver with the under barreled action looks way to cool to not have one. Some time this year one or the other is coming to my gun safe, still don't know which, they are both about the same money.
