Long Range Pest Controle

The Ruger 77 Target rifle is a heavy rifle and I think it would complement it by chambering it in .243, it is a very accurate round and the recoil is hardly anything and in a heavy rifle you should be able to watch impact shots through your scope, with out punishing recoil, there is Hornady factory 100 plus grain bullets that reach speeds of better than 300 feet per second, and more than capable of knocking any goat off a mountain, as with any cal, it's shot placement, the nice thing about the .243 is it serves as a varmit round and a good medium game round, kind of the best of both worlds, and the ammo can be purchased dang near anywhere ammo is is sold, not to mention easy to reload with tons of different combinations in loadings, if you wanted to bump it up a bit you could go to the 7 mm-08, but I'm not sure they offer it in the Ruger 77.

Good Luck.
