So I have ALWAYS wanted a nice 357 lever rifle/revolver combo. Just always thought it would be neat to have...and now I've decided to finally save up for it. :D

I have been drooling over this for the past week or so
    Marlin Model 1894C

but have not quite figured out what revolver to pair with it.

I looked at the ruger, but I have had no experience with one so i'm not really sold on it.

    Ruger Blackhawk 357mag 6 1/2" $427.00 SHIPS FREE

    any suggestions?

Do you want something to carry, or just make a good pair and range gun?

The Blackhawk is a much better pairing. Lever actions = single action revolvers. Always has been that way, always will (should) be. :)

I'm looking for a .44 mag LA to go with a Blackhawk .44 mag

No. . . I think ALL .357s are worth shooting. The one you prefer could be miles apart from the one I might. ;)

Don't neglect the Colt Single Action Army.

Absolutely. The Ruger Blackhawk is the most practical decision. It will serve you well as a mountain (outdoors) gun, as well as a sidekick to your Marlin. If you'd like a set of matching grips I know of a great woodworker.

Here's one in .44 mag with handmade over-sized grips

How about a Uberti 1873 replica in .357 and a .357 Vaquero? Both are short-stroked and tricked out. The newer Marlin quality is not as good as before Remington took over, though they can be made to run. Hard to beat a Ruger for durability and combined, these guns generally rule the CAS shooting matches.
Come to think of it, I don't think Marlin has a movie named after it like the one Jimmy Stewart starred in.

I would suggest the Blackhawk with 4 3/4" or 5 1/2" barrel. The shorter the handier.;)

My choices would be the Marlin 1894C paired with a Ruger Vaquero. (been thinking about getting them for CAS) The Ruger Blackhawk is nice too.

A lever action rifle and single action revolver go hand in hand. I would suggest the Ruger New Vaquero, Colt Single Action Army, or the Ruger Blackhawk. I personally would choose either the New Vaquero or the Colt Single Action Army.
