I thought 45 minutes was bad when my daughter and her neighbor called 911 about a prowler.

quite often, 2 SECONDS is too slow. a man can jerk up a handgun and fire it in 1/2 second, and then fire repeat shots at the rate of at least 4x per second. same way for club swings or knife thrusts, with EACH hand. The cops can be parked in your yard, and be of no help whatesoever, very easily.

Years ago I was sitting home and heard a gun shot, so I called the police and reported it,(the local pd is less then 3 blocks away) as I say there I never heard any one drive up or see lights which is normal if they are trying to catch some one, so I decide to go for a walk and see what's going on, I eventually get tackled as the police thought I was the shooter, it was roughly 1 hr from when I placed that call to when they got there, that's when I learned, I'll have a gun vs rely on the police.

I've had a dozen confrontations, never have had a cop (or a friend) be in any position to help. The punks normally look around a little bit before starting trouble.
