Whats the big deal with "modifying" the Saiga AK. Seems like a lot of hassle just to move the trigger assembly foward a bit. Is there some great benefit to this arrangement? Seems to work fine just as is. Enlighten me.

    Thanks,

The Saiga is a neutered AK. Returning it to is intended form includes repositioning the trigger group to the place Mikael intended it. This allows a pistol grip to be installed.

    Really???

You can still put a pistol grip on it as is. I was thinking of something like this Saiga T6 Collapsible Intrafuse Stock pistol grip -TAPCO-OD Green [STK07160OD] - $57.74 : Mississippi Auto Arms, Inc ::, Your Source for Saiga, AK47, AR15, Tromix, Glock, and SKS firearms and accessories

I actually prefer the stock setup on the Saiga to the pistol grip on a standard AK. The trigger linkage adds a level of complexity, but does not seem to affect the trigger pull.
