Hey guys, I am building a new AR. The upper I have is a 20" stainless barrel with a free float handguard. It does not have a swivel stud to attach a sling or anything. My question is, what is the most secure attachment for a bi-pod? I have seen many different types but I have no experience with bi-pods so any info is greatly appreciated.

What kind of handguard do you have? Do you mean the simple aluminum tube or a railed guard?

Install a sling stud cheap as you are going to get and solid. If a round free float tube.

CHLChris, yes it's the simple tube handguard.

hmh, is there a difference in studs for metal and wood use?

Yes there is a wood stud has a screw like faster, the metal type is more like a bolt with a round nut. Just make sure it doesn't contact the barrel.

I've never had a free-float AR handguard. Does it have the ability to spin around or are they rotationally secure?
