ATI 6-position stock and fore end. I've been debating wether or not to but a holographic sight on it but I like the iron sights too much.

A sling & a scope on a side rail scope mount.
That is about all I ever put on my AK.

I changed the plastic hand-guard for a wood one. Don't see much need to do any more. I might duracoat it though. Just because I want to duracoat some stuff.;)

I like to follow the Keep It Functional Stupid philosophy.

Every personal defense carbine, to include the AK, needs the following:

    1. Sling (A real two point sling like a quick-adjust Blue Force Gear, not a carrying strap). If all you have is the issued carrying strap, it's sufficient but not ideal. If you are on a SEAL team or Delta Force, you might need a single point, but I don't like having my carbine smash my knee caps.

    2. Professional Grade Red Dot Optic (Aimpoint, EoTech, or Trijicon)

    3. Professional Grade White Light (SureFire)

That's all you really need on any carbine. There's lots of cool toys like folding stocks, lasers, Picatinny rail hand guards, bipods, etc, but the stuff you really need on any personal defense carbine has been covered.

My AK has a Blue Force Gear quick adjust, an Aimpoint Comp M3, and a SureFire X300.

The only thing an Ak ever needed was simply a sling so you never had to put it down

What should a carpenter put on his hammer? I would use that list to choose what I would put on a Ak

1st determine what your absolute needs are. I am now 70 yrs old and I need some type of optics, a red dot on an AK is just right for me. I also like a very good trigger. If my eyes were still sharp I would not add the optics. I do add a sling. I set up the sling to be used for a hasty sling to steady the rifle and to carry the rifle. a 2 point adjustable sling works out well for this. In my opinion this makes for a fast dependable rifle to bet my life on.

My opinion on additions to a rifle are mine only and based on A year in vietnam. My 1st concern was dependabilty, I carried a M 14 thru a monsoon season living in mud and the very hot dusty and sandy season. It never failed to funtion, however I carried a tooth brush in my shirt pocket and used it very often. I also cleaned it completly when ever I got a chance, during the monsoon season finding a dry clean place to clean it properly was not very often.

My M 14 was equiped with a sling and nothing else. I cannot believe that very many of todays add on acessorys would have lasted long.
There are a lot of real nice cleaning kits available, few of them contain a hard cleanning rod, If you can push out a stuck round with a cable, you are better than I am. I carry a cleanning rod with as short of sections as I can find to make it compact.

Equipt your rifle any way you want, but first decide if you don't want it to break, then don't put breakables on it.

Never saw an NVA, raghead, or skinny with a bunch of Hollywood fancy furniture and they did pretty damn good with them.
The only thing I put on my AK is a good cleaning when it is totally filthy.
