Just wondering what is cheaper and more accurate
Thats a tough call , different ammo shoots differently , and the gun is only as accurate as the shooter
What's cheaper then the savage or the remington
Check on Bud's Guns, that'll give you an idea!
Thanks a lot that helps
I would avoid Remingtons until they fix their quality control problems. I had to send two brand new Remingtons back to the factory for failure to function problems in just three months.
Remington is the one I would go with. Savage rifls at just to ugly to grace my safe.
Do you dress all your Remmies up and take'em out on dates?
And what's this I hear about Remington coming out with a Barrel Nut for their rifles!
Hmm, sarcasm? Or sincerity?
Thanks, a lot that helps. (sarcasm)
Thanks a lot, that helps (sincerity)
The question: Savage makes a VG rifle. I don't see a .338WM though. They do have a Lapua.
this isn't English class patterson so leave me alone. I don't need your two cents.
skeniger2002, only friends call me by name, you are not. You are now on ignore as your posts are confusing and you are quite rude. Merry Christmas. JP
If you quit jumping in my question saying how stupid I am your just scared to say it to my face. Not against the law to mistype a lot of words.
Let's all play nice now.
Sorry bout that he acts like its English class and its not. He don't know what I'm going through a lot right now that my mom was diagnosed with cancer.
I took you off ignore when Scott responded. I never said you were stupid, not once. I understand you are attemping to find an affordable long range shooter.
I am sorry to hear about your Mom. Mine fought Cancer for 35 years. It is not easy. Cherish every day.
As far as your posts, sometimes what you are attemping to say gets lost, because of grammer. That is all.
Well, I apologize about being rude sometimes, I don't take crap from people. I looked at savage, but found a Sako for 999.00 chambered in 338 lapua mag.
Even though I like the Savage rifles and have one! I would go with the Sendero when comparing these two weapons. A friend of mine has one who hunts with me in Texas and it is a fantastically accurate rifle.
I too catch poop to for my spelling at times. Such is life. I would also avoid reminton today. But even 15 years ago those sendero's were not that great. Mine was not. Buddies is an OK rifle. Nothing special. I ended up selling mine and rebarreling an older rifle to get what I wanted. Thanks to kreiger barrels. Good rifles and pure junk can be bought new and used from production rifles so be carefull of that sako!! Shoto it if you can. If its used and had 1500 rounds through it it make be 900 dollars worth of junk consedering the 338 sakos sell for 3 to 4 times that new. Atleast have a smithy check it out. Shame to have 1500 yards cartidge and not be able to hit a building at that distance.
Why a 338 lupua? How far can you assure yourself you are shooting a quality animal. Or maybe just what is long yardage for you to "hunt" at. After you get beyound 500 yards it can be very hard to make that call if a animal is worth killing even with quality glass in a mixed field, power line cut or bordering timber. Not like ringing a gong at 1000 yards in a grass field. Or seeing some guy shot a big doe at 1000 yards and find its really a 125lb spike buck. The lapua has more than enough energy at longer ranges onbut there are others that do the job as well out to 700 or 800 yards for hunting elk, goats or even moose sized game.
I have a Sendero in .300 WinMag with a Nikon Monarch 6.5-20X50 scope.
It shoots 175 grain SMK bullets into 2.0 inches at 200 yards all day long. And I shoot 5 ten shot groups, and average them.
From a solid rest, with little or no wind, I can hit police silhouette targets "center of mass" at 800 yards all day long.
Some folks need better accuracy then this. I don't!
Missing the point , maybe. Hitting center of mass on at 800 yards silhotte target is not makeing a quality shot on a deer or elk at the range a 338 lapua can shoot. The difference between an ok rifle and a great rifle is far apart. He should be looking at full on custom rifle to make the 338 lapua round worth while. Not some production based banger. My buddies sendero is about a 2" 200 yards rifle al 200 yards.
Still know idea of what he thinks a long range shot is for game. Maybe a 308 or a 7mm mag is plenty but does not understand that.
