I carry a S&W M&P 9c right now but even this compact is to big for me to carry when it's hot and I want just a t-shirt... A 380 sounds like it might work, what is a good gun and carry method?

I'm a Kahr guy. When I absolutely MUST carry in my pocket, I carry a Kahr P380 in a Desantis Nemesis.

However, don't forget that anytime you can go IWB, you should carry more gun than .380acp. There are some awesome teeny 9mm's (PM9/CM9 is one example).

I was really surprised by the difference in size between the PM9 and the P380 really felt like in bulk and weight in my pocket. The LCP by Ruger is another I have carried in my pocket extensively. The Bersa is HUGE compared to the Ruger LCP and Kahr P380. If I were going to pocket carry something as large as the Bersa, I see no reason not to go with a 9mm.

The Sig P238 is a 1911 platform (almost) and is really best for people who already carry a SA semi with thumb safety and train that way. If they usually carry DA semi-autos, people should stick to DAO pocket guns. JMHO

Most double action only pocket triggers are crap (s&w bodyguard / ruger lcp). I do like the khar trigg though.

I went with the sig 238. Mostly because of the single action only. The way I see it, if I'm defending myself with a .380 (which most people will debate it's effectiveness), I'd like to be able to fire off rounds faster and more accurately than with the double action only pistols.

I have come to the conclusion that if I'm carrying I'm not going any smaller than a 9mm. I have retired my Ruger LCP .380. Now a safe queen. Just got my Ruger LC9 yesterday and put 100 rounds thru it. Couldn't be happier. It has an external safety. I don't use it but it's there. I just got rid of my Kel-Tec pf-p. Didn't like it. I bought the LC9 on GunBroker. Cost a total of $323 incl shipping and transfer fee.

if you want something small for stuffing in a pocket, it is hard to beat the lcp in a wallet holster. it is a lot smaller than the bersa. i do not have a whole lot of confidence in the 380, and i am not real fond of dao. i USUALLY have a 357 within reach but i ALWAYS have my lcp in a pocket. i know 2 other people with lcp's. we have fired several boxes of different types of ammo in each of them. the only ammo that gave any cycleing probs at all was cheap tulammo. absoloutely everything else worked fine. i know it is not recommended but i carry buff bore +p lead in mine.

I would really recommend a 9mm instead of a .380 unless you can't carry a 9. I have the kahr mk9 which is great fiream but heavy -- I just didn't like the pm9. It felt cheap to me even though I know it isn't. But checkout the pm9 -- very small and light and it's 9mm -- much better than .380
