What was the first rifle you ever fired or which one did you learn to shoot with?
Mine was a Winchester 9422 XTR in .22lr. My Dad and I shot those dirty ol' Remington Thunderbolts at our backyard "range." We shot at tin cans and whatever trash we could scrounge up. :)

I figured most people started with rimfires.
I still have mine to, it has killed many squirrels and other things.
    Thanks for the responses. :)

My Dad had an old Remington 550 semi-auto .22, probably the first rim fire I shot, maybe i was 8 or 9. It was very accurate, but I hated it because my face would get peppered with powder particles (I'm left handed). I noticed the next model of Remington, the 572 "Fieldmaster" had a shield behind the bolt to deflect such particles. First center fire I shot was my Dad's Marlin 336 .30/30 when I was 13. By 16, I was working at a sporting goods store and bought an early Remington M700 7mm Mag. When I enlisted at 17 and went to Alaska, I had two Ruger M77's one in .270 ( I blame Jack O'Connor) and one in .300 Win. Mag. Took the .300 and left the .270 at home. Also took a Mossberg Pump 12 ga. and a Ruger No. 3 .45/70, and a Super Blackhawk .44 that I had Armaloy plated and cut down to 4 5/8 ".

1st rifle shot woulda been a buddy's old single shot .22, a Marlin I think it was. My 1st rifle was a Win 9422 (it lives in the safe anymore). But my 1st gun was a Stevens 59A bolt .410. It also lives in the safe.
My grandfather got me addicted. I remember (and have a pic) standing there, in awe, in front if his glass doored gun cabinet, admiring his 'collection' of game getters. The pic I have was about kindergarten age. Several in the pic are now in my safe, along with other prized possessions.

I was the same way with my Grandfather! He had two gun cabinets and two safes full of firepower. Several guns have found there way to me also, some of my most prized possessions.
    Thanks for the response. :)

My grandfather's .410 single shot. It's an odd brand (some sort of import) that I don't remember. I was around 6 or 7 when I first shot it. I spent a lot of time in the woods with that old shotgun. :)

It was more than likely dads semi auto Remington 22 but I cant remember the model number. Way to long ago. I would have been 5 or 6. He bought me my first gun when I was 7.

My father used to shoot high powered rifle matches when I was a kid and of course I'd go with him. Some fellow that he knew brought an old M1 Carbine and I shot it on the practice range a couple of times,, I was 5 and shortly after, I shot my father's old H & R single barrel 12 gauge and of course my dad caught me before I fell back to far, after that I started shooting anything I was allowed. I even shot my dad's 03A4 before a .22lr. My younger brother started off similarly,, neither of us are particularly recoil shy, most likely due to how we were taught.
