All right, what was your first adult vehicle? I mean the first car or truck you got when you got your drivers license.

Mine was a 65 Chevy Bel Aire station wagon with a 289 and a buggered up 3 speed floor shift transmission.
The back windows were tinted an almost Royal Blue.
It was red with white rally stripes on the hood and tailgate.

I bought it for $300 and sold it 5 weeks later for $500.
The guy that bought it still talks to me. :D

1976 Ford Pinto. I wrecked the car not long after I got it.

That car was a death trap! I'm lucky to be here...

78 Trans am. Drove it 3 weeks. Got it taken away. From that an 89 caprice classic. Then I managed to purchase a 89 f250 which there was a lot of work done to it. I guess my first "I paid for" was the ford. 408 stroker 4.56 gears front and rear. Big cam, worked heads. Didn't spend the money on good internals. My fault. Blew it up in 5 months lol. Well only burned up some valves. It was an electrical nightmare. Dad and I fixed a lot of it. Sold it to a dealership for $1000.

Dad's friend bought it and put new heads on it, reworked the vacuum system that was messed up from the get go. Pulled well he sold it later when he became broke. Truck got 4-5 mpg. Needed premium to run right. Damn it was a loud ugly truck. It would pull a house down though.

my first car when i got my DL, was a 1961 Ford Fairlane. originally my grandfather had bought the car new, and then my grandmother drove it for few years until she decided to get a smaller car, (1978 Ford Fairmont SW) and then my father ended up with it and used it to drive back and forth to work, because it got pretty decent gas mileage. then i got it when i got my DL and drove it to school and work. i drove if for about a year, then passed it on to my brother and then i inherited my grandfathers truck, a 1966 Ford F100 that i drove until i bought my first car with my savings, a 1978 Trans Am. i kept the truck for another year until my uncle talked me into selling it to him for a shop truck at his business. i ended up buying the Fairlane from my father when i blew up the engine in the Trans Am!

'75 Ford Mustang II. Basically a re-bodied Pinto. Made me the anti-Ford guy I am today.

1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Small block V-8, got it airborne a couple times. Put it in a ditch once. Loved that car. Still drive mid sized GM cars. Lumina, Monte Carlo, Impala.

I feel bad that you or an Impala had to get hurt in the process if getting one of those removed from the road.

    74 Camaro, 305...

The doors were too heavy for the hinges and they sagged something awful. Broke out the drivers side window almost right away trying to get it to shut tight...oops

Didn't stop me from driving it in the rain and snow...

The wiper motor was shot so I tied a string to the wipers and ran it through the windows...worked better with a passenger...;)

Learned all I needed to know about working on cars from that pos...

Sold it for scrap for $25 but that 305 was still running strong, hated to see it go but fell in love with those 305's, had several since...

I've had several 5.0's in trucks, vans and Mustangs.. Love'em.. My current car has one.
    FoMoCo for life.

Nah, I broadsided her in a parking lot when she ran a stop sign. A very low speed collision.
I got about an inch and a half crease on the leading edge of the left front fender.
    The Mustang II was towed.
The girls brother tried to shake me down for a few bucks. I laughed at him and told him I'd meet him in court with the accident report. Last I heard from any of them.

My first car was a 4 door 1983 Fiat 131s. Lots of fun til the transmission dropped from the car!
But my first new car was a 1986 Nissan 200sx turbo.

A 1964 Robin's egg blue & rust Plymouth Valiant, with a straight 6, 225 ci engine & 3 on the tree, that I bought from my paternal grandmother for $50. I drove that baby for a year until the freeze plugs rusted out, and I burned it up, because my grandfather never used anti-freeze in it. It was parked in their garage all winter long because my grandmother wouldn't drive in any sketchy weather.

1970 Olds Delta 88 with 455 Rocket motor. Only a 2 barrel but still did pretty good for a big ole boat and you could cram a lot of people in it!

A 1963 Plymouth Valiant with a slant 6 engine. It had a 3 speed manual transmission on the column. It was 4 years old when I got it in 1967. I loved that car.

1965 VW beetle with 300,000 miles on it. It was a handmedown; dad bought it new in 1965 for $1810. I paid $500 to get the third engine put in and a clutch.

I still miss that car. I think that car is the reason I prefer small cars like my sentry and the prizm before it.
