What model SKS would be better for hog hunting? A Russian or Chinese model?

Monte Carlo nylon. They run about $60 on eBay all day long. I painted it the O.D Green. It was originally all black. I just masked off the checkered patterns.

Well you did a good job on it! I usually don't like after market stocks for SKS's but that rifle looks pretty badass!

    Thank you, appreciate the compliment.

I'd like to add something else to it, just not sure what though. I don't want to go overboard.

Now what's so big about the Norinco? Because lately I have been hearing and reading a lot about that

If the Norinco and the Russian were the same price, I'll take the Russian every time.

Personally, there is not much of a difference in my opinion. Norinco has the chrome lined barrel. But not having a chrome barrel isn't really a bad thing if you keep up on maintenance. Heck, I'd like to collect an SKS of every variant if I could. The Norinco is just more available and better priced then the rest.

@towboater, why do you prefer the Russian? For my own curiosity.

Wild boar tend to get underfoot easily, I like the built -in bayonet

with the M44 or SKS for fending them off, when they get close...

So I'd say go with something well balanced, and don't forget to

sharpen the inside edge of the bayo.

The Russian was manufactured with tighter tolerances, better fittings, smoother trigger, no jams, and, well, just everything is better. Accuracy tells it all, with normal groups of 1 to 2.5". Even comparing the Russian with modern rifles, the Russian feels smoother and of more quality than just about anything you can find. I love my Russian SKS!
