Is it just me...or is the top of the XDM .45 5.25 seem problematic? I just don't like "holes" in my slide.

Got pics? I have no idea what you're talking about but I'm interested.

The coffin cut? If so, there are plenty of XDm 5.25s out there an I haven't heard of any issues.

No issues with "stuff" getting in there? Just looks peculiar...coffin cut, huh?

It is to keep the slide mass at a manageable level. Too heavy and it would be finicky about loads.

It allows a faster battery return. Plenty of pro design pistols have it. It returns to battery faster then you can blink. I carried one for 3 months...the cut does not fill up with junk.

At 5.25 inches, it is not going to be a conceal carry gun. So there's not much worry about pocket lint. The hole isn't there for looks like a Lone Wolf slide, just for weight reduction.

The benefits of the 5.25 are sight radius, and better trigger. Good front sight, too.

Thanks for the pic. I had no idea what everyone was talking about. The guns aren't available in my state.

Ah ok. Got ya. Thanks. Yeah I can see the concern. But based on the position I don't think it'd be much of a problem. Might catch on your holster a bit. I personally don't like it though.

Lot of guys use them for IDPA (I know it's large for concealed carry), i don't think the cutout is an issue especially with a polymer holster like a blade-tech.

The picture I added was of a Glock slide that has machining just for looks. As an example. As ZeusEcho helped with a photo of the 5.25, you'll see the machining is just for function. I wish they would have made it look a little better.
