What is this gun?

    I got this old gun past down to me from my grandpa and it has no maker marks no serial number and it dont say what caliber it is and I was hopeing someone on here has seen one befor

    Humm tuff one .. Kinda looks like an Italian Bodeo 1889.

    Could use some close up pics. From what I can see it looks like half of a bp revolver.

    It is a Lemat Revolver, not sure that it is all there, need some better pictures............

    The only marks I found was a D with a star and the letters LS

    Its missing the trigger guard and the ejector rod

    It's not a lemat. It would be 8 shots if I remember correctly and the cylinder would ride on a shotgun barrel.

    Looks like I was mistaken, it`s a Lefaucheux M1858, I think............Let me see if I can find a picture. it is still French.

    i dont think it that one because it center fire not pin fire :confused:

    It is right after they went from the pin fire to the center fire, before they got away from that frame, before they figured out that the frame could not handle the more powerful center fire round.............

    Oh MY GOD. you said that it had no serial numbers no proof marks no nothing. just JD under the grips. can you tell us were you got it.

    I have a lefaucheux also. Curiosly enough mine too is missing the guard and rod. I have heard that a star over a letter is a repro from italy. Can any one help with that ?

    Additionally it is a shame that there is no #. 25xxx to 36xxx were imported to US and Confed troops. This according to NRA website. However they were stated as pin fire.
