Can anyone tell me what this is and if it is worth buying?
Some variant of the M-H but can't tell from the pictures.
Would NOT buy as a shooter. MAY be a .303.
Yes indeed, certainly a MH Variant but the pics dont tell the story very well. Ive got my Dads MH Elephant Gun as we always called it. She's a wallhanger for sure even in great condition that she's in after all these years. Ive never fired it, I like my shoulder too much!
Zulu, dint that have another famous not to be fired today weapon in it? Hmmm, let me think...
I going to say Martini Henry to, but it does have a strange lever................
OK that`s what it is, it`s a Nepalese Gahendra Martini-Henry Rifle in 577/450............
Yes Buy It !...............
Kind of looks like one.
$375 or should I bicker with him?
Yes bicker with him
What is a fair price for this wall-hanger?
They sell everyday for around 150 bucks in a lot worse shape than that one seems to be !.............
I don't know, but here is something else. If you have to ask others whether you need to buy it, you don't.
My gut feeling it will be exactly a wall hanger, especially in a wooly mammoth caliber.
But-but it's a gun! There are lots of things I may need and don't even know it
In good condition they can be shooters if one is willing to do their due diligence & homework. Reloading obsolete black powder cartridges is a hobby unto itself.
Outside forum links are verboten here. However, suffice it to say that there is a range report with one of these on a cast bullet specific forum only a Google search away.
As to whether it's worth buying, only you can be the judge.
Personally, if it's not something you can actually fire safely with period spec ammo, I wouldn't bother, the world is full of wall hangers. Opinions vary of course.
