My buddy wants to sell me a piston driven upper and I have no clue about piston driven ARs. What's the good the bad and the ugly? How do they differ? How dose the piston system operate? Anything anyone can tell me would b great. Thanks

Piston is more like the AK, just without the projectile girth.

Never shot one, I was initially interested, but what killed it for me was 1) Price (for the cost of the piston setup you could have bought another entire gun) 2) Extra recoil...

Although there is a benefit of possible elimination of the buffer tube recoil spring as far as I know. That was my main point of interest.
