I have heard a lot of reports that "Double Tap" ammo has a good bit of umph behind it. I think Fiochi offers a load in their Extrema line that features the Hornday XTP bullet. It is not a hot load so to speak but the XTP seems to have a very good rep. Cabelas had that particular load for a really great price not too long ago.

Hornady's new Critical Duty is the hottest new round on the market. It is the only bullet to surpass the FBI's very strict expectations.

Winchester PDX1 was chosen by the F.B.I. as their primary service round .

I enjoy the Speer +p rounds in my .38. in the .45's hydroshok's it seems to like. As far as hotter I am not really sure, the best round depends on the firearm and yourself. My 9MM will not cycle Hydro's and dont really like the Speer ammo, but gets good groups with Remington. Try a few at the range and test them with a crono and see what ones perform the best.

Is that what your avatar pic is? Looks very painful, glad you're still here!
Buffalo Bore lists their 40SW stuff as this:
    Heavy .40 Smith & Wesson +P Ammo - 155 gr. (1,300 fps/M.E. 582 ft. lbs.)
    Heavy .40 Smith & Wesson +P Ammo - 180 gr. Jacketed Hollow Point (1,100 fps/M.E. 484 ft. lbs.)
Corbon has a lot of different bullet styles and such so I'd check out their site:

Same with DoubleTap which I use and really like:

Yes it was, but wasn't that BEFORE Hornady came out with their Critical Duty line? I think so! And, Winchester DID NOT pass every standard the FBI has as did the Critical Duty.
