Looking to buy but with so many choices I'm kind of at awe. Like to spend around $1,500 plus whatever I can get for my PT1911 (maybe $200?) on trade. Like to have a rail gun as I never had one but not a must. So far I like the TRP, Tac Ops and TLE II. Other recommendations? Thanks.

I have yet to shoot a 1911 (45 cal) that wasn't fun to shoot. The fact that the gun was used in a movie or a video game doesn't make it any more fun to shoot.

The rail may look cool, mean, rad, or whatever.

I just haven't found a practical use for one yet.
Special order holster, ripped jackets from the rail, added bulk...etc.

The rail just is not for me.

A rail is not mandatory but I would like something with some extra features.
I have narrowed it down to either a..

1) Kimber
2) Springfield Armory
3) Sig Sauer 1911

What do you guys think out of those three?

Also does Colt make any tactical type 1911's worth a look? Thanks.

I do not have any experience with the Sig, so I cannot comment.
I do not own a Kimber even though I have had plenty of chances.
I do own a Springer and would recommend.

If your price range is $1500-$1800, you need to rethink your list. Ditch the Kimber and the Sig and any Springer not from their custom shop. Start looking at Les Baer, Dan Wesson, and even Fusion.
Woe there, Sig Sauer has a custom shop as well. There are plenty of more expensive 1911's but Sig Sauer offers the most standard features for the bucks. I own a Sig Platinum Elite with a few non factory components from Fusion. The OP could have one built as well unless a name mean more than performance.

I like Sig 1911, but in the $1500-$1800 range , there are higher quality guns to be had. I almost about a Platinum Elite until I called Sig and asked what components or process made it special from the custom shop. I was told the only difference between it and other non custom shop guns was cosmetic differences. Other than that, it's mechanically the same gun. No special Gunsmithing attention or anything. That changed my mind. You can contact Sig to confirm if needed.

I have over 1400 rounds through my kimber warrior and have had zero issues with reliability or feeding. I use it as my everyday carry, and keep the light for the rail at home for when i go to bed. Its a real sweet gun and i. My opinion its worth the $1475. Also the springfield operator, and sig sauer tac ops are good choices as well, but the sigs tend to have a little quirk when it comes to putting them back together.

This is a 45ACP match version by Rock Island. Adjustable sights, Deadly accurate, and with over a thousand rounds of Armscor 45 ammo, no hangs. and paid only $695.00, plus Hogue grips.

Tactical is a loosely applied term, Colt is a choice.

Tactical comes in many sizes.

I have a Wilson combat awesome gun. Sad thing is I'm just as accurate with my kimber tle and the kimber was less than half of the Wilson. IMO unless you are shooting competition or just have the extra money to spend you don't need one of the custom guns. Now wanting is another thing. I also have a fusion with a rail on it. Check out fusion firearms. Very nice custom guns but some can be had for less than 1k if I remember right
