There are a couple others, too. I just can't remember them right now, but when I do I'll edit this post.

I actually have instructions for my services- no funeral. For those that never spent time with the Cav- old Irish drinking song, adopted as the song of the 7th Cavalry- The Garryowen-

Haven't quite decided about mine, but my mom specifically requested "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". Found this video of that one. The video with it looks like someone looking through a freshly cleaned, lightly oiled 45 barrel at a nearby fire. Looked pretty cool to me anyway.

    Here's one for the wake!

As often as I've heard that song, I've never heard a verse for Saturday night. But considering the sequence of the previous verses, that would have to be rated X!!!

I taught homebound for a student because he was terminally ill. I went to his house or the hospital to work with him. He was so graceful and composed that he chose where he would be after he died and chose all of the music for his funeral. I miss him. At mine, I think I would like happy songs to be played because I would want people to celebrate my life and not mourn my death. I would love something silly like the Hokey Pokey or the chicken dance song. :)

Beautiful lyrics. Check out his "message" at about 5:20 or so it builds up at about 7:01.

As a blues guitar player I devoted all of my adult playing time to learning his style and tone. I've come close...

I've always wanted to cover this tune but no band I've ever been in had the stones to do it.

OK I know this thread is a little old, but just ran into an amazing video that ... well ... just watch it. The young lady entitled her song "Beer Fear".
