I use Hoppes solvent. And super quick clean gun lube.

Curious as to what others out there use?

Kano Kroil for most things gun related. excellent multi-purpose product.

Lucas Gun Oil for lubrication and protectant. a bit thicker than most other gun oilsi have used in the past.

Froglube. I've heard good things about Fireclean, but have never used it. Also, Royal Purple makes a gun oil I'd like to try

I'm just a po' boy. Do not mix any of these solvents, and be sure to work

outside, or in a room with ventilation.

Brush Solvent by Clean Strip(what's Hoppes #9?)--general dirt-

ATF (Cleans while you sleep)--breaks free tough dirt, between cleaning

    sessions--

Brown Vinegar(Also a good bolt loosener and rust inhibitor)--Breaks up and

    loosens powder and dirt---

    Janitor's Ammonia (@ 1 to 1 with water)--For copper fouling, lead fouling,

    {and bad calls against the Steelers in the playoffs:D}

Dawn ( @1 to 4 with water)--break free difficult dirt and powder--

    Mobil1 (barrel lube, for storage)

My apologies in advance, none of this stuff has fancy names, and

it only costs 6$ a QUART. Sorry...

I use RemOil to clean parts with plastic and brake clean on metal parts. But a quick question and you guys tell me what you think. Oiling..... What do you guys use. I've been using Hoppes for a year now. And of course the RemOil is a CPL. But I've seen where some guys use grease on their heavy wear areas. Rails and such. I've used it on my AK and Glock. Just a very light coating. And hoppes on the extractors bolts and pins. But the other day I used STP oil treatment on the rails of my AR and AK just to see how it would do. I haven't shot them but they seemed to rack so much smoother. Do you think the STP would foul easer than grease or oil. I don't know. I've always thought gun oil repealed dirt while motor oils and grease collected it to be cleaned by a filter.

Hoppe's 9 and elbow grease for my smokeless. For my black powder I use Hoppe's 9, soapy water and elbow grease. I use either Birchwood Casey or Hoppe's gun oil on both types of guns. Depends on which one I see first.

At the risk of sounding redundant, Let Me Clarify.

I stopped Using Frog Lube as a Lube. It should NOT be Left on Guns you are Trying to make "Rust Preventative" or take "Anti-Rust" precautions with. I will Still Use it to Clean Here and There, but It is STRONGLY Suggested by my Range & Shop who Sells it, As Good as it CAN work,. to Clean it Throughly after application, and "Lube" with a Protectant Oil instead. The Man who told me this is a Ret. Marine Gunny(24 Yrs.) And the CRSO at the Range. Certain Makers STRONGLY SUGGEST not using it as a "1 does it all" solution. Specifically, folks with Kimber's are suggested not to use it because of how quickly it can rust your barrel....

    Edit 1:
My Collectable guns I inherited would never be cleaned with Froglube. I used it ONCE on My 1950's BAR,...I saw(the Next day) a Light(damp) film that could Inhibit Rust if left on.

Edit 2: I have not tried the Pre-moistened Frog patches. I do carry 3 Rem Oil Wipes to Every Outdoor Shoot incase I need to quickly clean the Buckmarks. The Slide and Rails need cleaning & Lube every 150-200 rounds, and some times our practice sessions can go up to 400 and above rounds...
