This is not about bragging rights or to win a prize.

I'm curious what you think your maximum effective range distance is with a handgun. Keeping 5 rounds on a piece of paper that is 24" square.

I have made some decent shots out to 135 yards, but for this I feel confident out to 60 yards.

    What is your distance?

The furthest I have ever shot with a handgun was at a half gallon milk jug at 100 yards just for laughs.
I shot at it standing with my ruger mark iii .22 and actually hit 4/10 shots.

Well, with THIS one, I go a bit further out.....

    pistols 013.jpg

For ones like this, 60-65 yds.

    For these, 25 yds-

I'll simply assume we're not talking about

    scope-mounted, long-barreled 22LRs.

    With a 1911A1 or 92FS, 50 yards, tops.

For me because I really don't shoot pistols that often I don't even own a pistol my parents and most my family do So I shot a few 25 yards with a good revolver low recoil maybe a 38

I can barely hit a soup can at 10 yards, so I doubt I could some sheet of paper at any more.

I am very confident and will hit my target with my .45 out to 50 yards. My 45 is set up to aim at 6 O clock on the bullseye at 25 yards, and dead center of the bullseye at 50 yards. This comes from all the years shooting 3 gun NRA bullseye competition matches. Keep in mind, NRA 3 gun bullseye is done with one hand grip only.

I know I could do this at 50 yards with most of my handguns. With a long barrelled revolver I'd probably be good a little further out.

I have no problem up to 50 yards with my EDC, at 75 to 100 yards a bad guy would have 50% chance of not being hit. I do practice with the long guns from 100 to 300 yards

about 25-30 yards with my revolver and about 10-15 for my semi-auto pistols.

i would really like to have a revolver with at least an 8" barrel in 357 Mag. or 44 Mag. to stretch out to about 75-100 yards just for fun.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

With my MKII -22LR-scoped, I place on a 8" pattern at 100 yards.

But I don't think that's what the topic was about.

Depends on the firearm..... .40 Max shot is 30 yds. That I am comfortable with but could probably be on the paper at 50.

With my heritage rough rider .22. I am consistent at 35-40 range....but could probably hit the paper at 60....really love this firearm.

. I'm pretty good with a handgun, though I don't really know the range, because I just shoot in the backyard and in fields, a rifle on the other hand... I suck with:p

I can actually shoot more accurately with my G19, 1911 and the beretta I had than I ever have with any rifle

I'm cross dominant (left eye, right handed) so I believe that may be why.

For whatever reason I don't shoot too well with peep sights.

My home range is currently 25 yards and 100 yards from the bench/line.
Most of the time, guests and I post at 25 yards, but we will do the 100 yard from time to time.
I like dinging the 12" Steel, but I have more hits on the E Silhouette Steel using the .22lr pistols.

I'll send a few .45acp down range, but hate holding high.
