Went to basics on my Adams and got it down to 6 lbs 11 oz. I might be able to trim a few more oz off the butt stock but is it worth it. All it has is flips and a small red dot. I matched the red dot to the flips which were set at 25 yards. I need to get it to the range to make sure. I want a 16" AR that is under 6 lbs. PSA supposedly has a lightweight upper that is under 3.5 lbs and my lower is 2 lbs. Not much luck getting hold of BCA. They have a 10.5" pistol the weighs 3.5 lbs. Swapping the barrel with a 16" pencil barrel and stay with the 9.5" fore end might do it.

Hopefully I’ll get to shoot it soon, been so dang busy… I need some powder therapy
Same here man! I’m fixin’ to head to my local range here in the next few days. Haven’t put serious rounds down range since last October! Lol. So this morning I spent some time and got the range bag ready, double checked mags and ammo that I’m bringing. And also popped opened the safe and also doubled checked the weapons I’m taking as well and so it’ll be fun and I’m super excited! Will definitely record a few clips and maybe take some pics! 😁

Went to start assembling my 7.62x39 build lower, and found out the one piece I forgot to order was a castle nut for the buffer tube, and an end plate.
And the end plate I got in, won't go over either of the buffer tubes I have.
Modular/Mil-spec my azz!

Could make the nut, out of either stainless, or aluminum, but since I need the end plate also, just may order them both.

Last night found a nice piece of 7075 aluminum, and decided that I would make my castle nut.
Figured it was just as easy to thread the ID on a longer piece, as it would just one, and then I could make several.
By bed time, and had OD, ID, and threads cut.
Today sliced the length into 4, A5 length pieces, as I run A5 buffers & tubes on all my ARs. Front sides are finished, and now I have to flip them over, and finish the back sides, before putting them in the mill, and drilling the spanner wrench holes. This is the original style as used on the XM177, and I have my only one on my 16" AR10.

Here are my unfinished ones so far:

Hopefully the machine work will be done by bed time, and the weather holds, will be coated tomorrow.

Well, had to make a fixture to hold them while cutting the back side, and then drilling the holes for the spanner wrench.
Made the fixture from the threaded portion of an old buffer tube, and a piece of 1" bar stock.
And sometimes I just don't want to be standing out in the shop...
So the machine work wasn't finished until this evening.
They just need to be coated, and installed.

One of the 4 ended up being scrap (wasn't tight enough on the fixture threads, and slipped, getting holes out of time)
So I used it for a jam nut to better lock in the ones to be drilled.
Will order in a coupe of standard castle nuts to use as jam nuts when I do another batch.
I think I may have a 1/8" ball end mill, so I may try cutting flutes in the next ones.

Well my castle nut project is finished...
It was necessary to machine out a spindle to aid in spraying the Gun Kote.
One end with threads for doing the OD, and the other with a cup in order to spray the ID.

With it in my well masked lathe chuck, the nuts were sprayed, and initially dried using a heat gun, then taken out, and baked in a toaster oven at 325° to cure, before put into the cupped end of the Delrin spindle to spray the threads, and another trip to the oven.
About midnight they were all done, and the first one installed on my .45 PCC, which I will be dong a build thread on over in the 'Gunsmithing' section.
