Made it to the range today with the 6.5G DMR. Only had one box of ammo, Hornady Black 123 grain. Used 12 rounds to get it sighted in at 50 yards (forgot the cantilever mount is a 20 MOA cant), so kinda wasted some there. Once it was on at 50, the last 3 rounds were nearly same hole. Stretched it to 100 and below is the results. 2 groups, the first three shots are on the right and then I tweaked the scope a little, but brought it back left a little too far for the last group on the left, 4 shots. 2 of those were same hole. Sub MOA, at least on those few shots. For a $250 cheapo BCA upper, I'm not going to complain one bit. Might even tighten things up with some hand loads, and will try some other bullets too.
I bought 2 magazines for it, a 5-round Alexander Arms E-Lander and a 10-round CMMG. Tried the E-lander first and it would not strip a round. Switched to the CMMG and had 100% flawless function. Went back to the E-lander after removing and reinserting the last round and it ran with 1 failure to feed on the second to last round. Unfortunately, it crinkled the heck out of the shoulder of the case on the lugs. Last round fed fine. I bought the E-Lander based on reviews and posts concerning 6.5 Grendel mags...the E-Landers get the most nods for "best" mags for this round, but so far, I'm not impressed. That CMMG at almost half the price ran 100%. We'll see how it goes after they get worked a little.
The rifle itself ran flawlessly, gas is spot on, ejecting at 3:30-4:00. Goes into battery smoothly and man, I love that side charging.
Probably going to need to add a 1/4" riser under the scope mount. I have the adjustable cheek piece on the stock all the way down and I still have a little trouble getting my eye lined up in the scope. Minor details.
I thought about replacing the barrel with a 22" or 24" if this one didn't shoot worth a hoot, but looks like I'm not going to have to worry about it. Next up (when I get the time) is burnt bronze cerakote on upper and lower and hand guard, then black on the barrel.
