I just bought one and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with the rifle? It seems to be a decent surplus gun and from what I hear they shoot quite well but anyway any information would be appreciated.

Here is some info for you: Collecting and Shooting the Swiss Karabiner Model 31 (K31) - HISTORY

The average K-31 has marvelous metal, and a stock that looks like a reservist stood around with the butt of the rifle in snow for 2 weeks a year. Because that is exactly what happened.

Get as much of the Swiss Milsurp GP-11 ammo as you can. It is great stuff, and when gone, will not be seen again.

Rifle will likely shoot better than you. You can add a no gunsmithing scope mount. The unique shape of the bullet makes for a REALLy good long range rifle. For easy windage adjustments, (from sight is in an angled slot, you push it forwards/backwards) visit an industrial supply store, and buy a shaft collar. (Metal ring with setscrew that slips over the end of a rotating shaft to hold it in place) Get one big enuff to fit horizontally over the front sight. Turning set screw will push the front sight blade, allowing fine movement without beating on the sight.

You may find a slip of paper under the buttplate- name and address of Swiss citizen it was issued to. In case you forgot, and left your rifle on the street car, so it could be returned to you. Seriously.

The K31 is one of the finest rifles you can buy. Head and shoulders above the general "mil-surp".

Outstanding accuracy. I sold the St. Marie scope mount and scope. The rifle is accurate enough without it.

GP11 is the only surplus for the K31. Hand loading is the best way to go.

I have a K31. Ugly rifle the K31, interesting bolt/receiver design. Very accurate rifle with its GP11 surplus ammo. Careful on the spent brass ejecting up and on your back. Hot brass may end up down your shirt or back of pants. Don't disassemble the bolt unless you have good reassemble instructions handy. Kinda tricky.

I have seen it for $8-$10 per 20, lately. Aimsurplus is a great company to deal with. Does Ammoman, or J&G have it?

    National Matches
Most clubs or Ranges have Military matches.
If you are thinking of entering a match, you will need 400 rounds minimum to enter. As a poor guy I use ammo that shoots well for the 1st few rounds and shoot the good stuff at the end.
