I find challenging other's knowledge regarding weapons to be interesting. Anyone with a trivia question should consider posing it on this thread. I will begin with a weapons trivia question. What was the first military weapon adopted by the United States military that was originally designed for the 30-06 cartridge?

Try M1906. Modified the 30-03 used in the M1903.

I'll take a stab at this- M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle. The 1903 rifle was DESIGNED for the 30-03. The 1917 Enfield was DESIGNED for the .303 Enfield. The BAR was the first DESIGNED to use the 30-06.

In 1906 the 1903 was upgraded to take the 30-06 cartridge. Thus M1906 variation.

Excellent, C3, the Browning Automatic Rifle(BAR) was the first weapon adopted by the U.S. military that was originally designed for the 30-06 cartridge.

C3, I was incorrect in stating your answer, the BAR, was correct, so the question as to what weapon originally designed for the 30-06 cartridge was adopted by the U.S. military, still stands.

M1917....
The P1914 was designed for .303 Brit... The BAR is designated as the M1918... So if it isnt the M1903, Its gotta be the M1917.
