What are everyone's thoughts on the new Walther PPQ. Most everything I've seen and read on them seems to be positive. There are only two negative things that I've read about. One is the magazine release, which to me isn't really a negative, it's simply a training issue. The only other negative is cost of the magazines, which are like $45.

It's polymer, which I like. Striker fired, which I like. Pretty decent capacity, 15 +1, and I've read that there are 17+1 round magazines but haven't seen any anywhere. Adjustable backstraps, which are always a plus. Sights are adjustable for windage. Ergonomics are supposed to be fantastic. Trigger is supposed to be second to none for a polymer pistol. The only problem is no shops in my area carry them, so I have no means of getting my hands on one prior to purchasing it online.

I was thinking of getting a 4in M&P, no thumb safety or mag disconnect, but after seeing the Walther, I might get it instead. Just wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience with them before I plopped down my hard earned dollars on a pistol I've never held or even seen in person.

My opinion wait till you can hold one first person. Reality is a very subjective thing when it comes to describing how a gun feels.

I've shot both, my preference is the PPQ over the M&P... The PPQ's trigger and ergonomics are really exceptional.

Isn't that the one that has the tool required for field stripping?

    I don't like that idea.

No, it strips down almost identically to a glock. The pull tabs are just a little different.
