I bought my P22 on Monday, and I went to the range today with a brick of Federal HP. The first couple of magazines were off center, I adjusted the sights, and my grouping was dead center. After about 300 rounds, my groupings just got better and better. I'm going to have to give credit to the gun breaking in a little.
550 rounds can get boring sometimes, so I started shooting the hardest targets I could find (I shoot at an outdoor range, btw, its the oldest range in the state of MA at 125 years). After I was done cutting down saplings and plinking 44 mag brass at 25 yards
, I noticed that someone had left their Styrofoam packing for .40 S&W rounds on the ground at 25 yards. I ended up shooting it up over the backstop. This gun is soooo accurate its unbelievable. I bet its even more accurate with the 5" barrel, which I plan on purchasing sometime.
I had about 5 malfunctions out the 550. Ill give that credit to the ammo
. Those 5ish times, there wasn't enough blow back to eject the brass and strangely enough it re-chambered it instead of stovepiping.
Cleaning was very easy, considering how much crap is left behind by 22lr's. After I thought I was done cleaning it tho, I noticed a "gritty" sound when I squeezed the trigger. Easily fixed by flushing the trigger assembly with solvent and thoroughly oiling. Assembly is certainly made easier with the plastic dowel they provide, but you don't need it if you have small enough fingers to stabilize the main spring. (You will know what I'm talking about if you have a P22 or you watch enough field strip videos on YouTube)
In all, I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this firearm to anyone looking for a 22lr semi.
