I'm looking to buy a .40 but pretty new to the handgun arena. I have been looking at the Walther P99 .40 compact. My hands are on the smaller side but was wanting to know how many people had experience with this gun. I will primarily use the gun for target shooting and personal defense should the situation arise.

I recommend a S&W M&P40 which comes with interchangeable back straps to accommodate all hand sizes. Plus it's made in the USA.

The Walther P-99 is the same as the SW99 from Smith and Wesson. I have a full size and a sub-compact. Recoil is snappier than my other .40's. Good gun, just recoils more than it should

I had a .40 P99 full size and I hated that gun. It had some accuracy problems. I sent it back to the factory, but it never got any better. A compact polymer gun in .40 is not my idea of a good time at the range. Sharp, snappy recoil is not enjoyable to me.

Ruger SR40. You have to shoot this gun before you pay too much for something not as good!

Smaller hands will really like the HK P2000, 9mm or .40---fully ambi as well!
