Hey guys,
I have a issue with always leaving my wallet in the car if my wife has her purse when we go shopping. I also leave my wallet in my truck if I'm just out and about. The issue is that my CCP using my wallet, and as usual my gun is on my hip or in my pocket. Would hate to get caught without the CCP what would happen if I was caught without it? State law doesn't seen to offer any answers

Easy answer...keep your wallet in your pocket like everybody else. Leaving your wallet in you car was a lie we all used to use when we were trying to buy cigarettes and beer before we were old enough. We didnt really leave it. We just said we did.

Leaving it in the car is a great way too get it stolen.

I have two wallets, one for drivers license and debit cards and one for my FPID and CCW, and a money clip and a phone. And they all go with me in my pockets. It's not too hard for me to keep them all in my pockets wherever I go. You should give it a shot. Simply leave it IN your pocket this way you never have to remember to take it with you...because its ALREADY with you!
See what I just did there?

In our state, it is a violation of law not to have your CCW permit with you when carrying, I do believe.

Wallet? Cut It Out!

Get with the decade you are in, baby!

I have had this in my pocket for years, and I ain't going back to cow skin again!

My wife has a phone case that has slots in it made for credit cards and ID. She keeps her ID and Cpl card in there during the summer. And keeps them in her coat during the winter months.

My son (mid 20's) does not carry a billfold. He carries his driver's license and credit cards in a money clip. Been doing it for years. It's a youth thing, I think. And he is a responsible relatively high earner with a responsible financial analyst job. So... I don't know ... maybe he knows what he is doing. But I would always carry my billfold.

Umm, where do you live? I'm sure somebody here will either know the answer or be glad to look up the answer for you, but you're going to have to narrow things down a bit.

In Florida it is a $25 non-criminal administrative type fine. YMMV

Whatever happens EVENTUALLY, here is what is LIKELY to happen "in the moment".

Weapon prints unintentionally. Officer Friendly observes.

Excuse me- I need to speak with you for a minute- would you step over here? I see you appear to have a concealed weapon. Are you an LEO or CCW license holder?"

Well, yes, I have a CCW- but I left my wallet in the car.

I see. Would you please turn around, face the other way, and place your hands behind your back....

You are going to be detained. AKA "cuffed and stuffed". Whether you are charged later, what charge, what penalty- will vary state to state. But you ARE going to spend time sitting to one side wearing some new jewelry. Mommy- look at the funny man wearing bracelets.....

Obviously, this should not apply in states that do not require a CCW license.

Me? Wallet is my filing system. Only have 2 credit cards (one me, one my company) but I have O.L., FFL copy, Explosives license, CCW, Library card, Lodge card, medical and dental card, permission to take grandkids to the range, permission to seek medical care for grandkids, challenge coin, military ID, hunting license, boat license, business cards- and $3 in cash money.

Come to think of it, my wallet could double as a trauma plate for body armor....

If you're in a mall or grocery store, many cops would probably simply escort you to your car to retrieve it (while they're in control of your firearm), give you a scolding and a good firm lecture.

Still, there are some (probably just as many as in the first scenario) who will go ahead and cuff you and let you relax in the back of their nice car while they get everything sorted out.

And, your could get charged, here's why:
Some states require you to have your permit on you while carrying. Just like many require that your have proof of insurance in your car. If you have your gun on you, without your permit also being on your body, that may be a crime itself, depending on where you live, regardless of if you've been issued one or not.

Best bet, as some others have already mentioned, just keep your wallet on you. I wouldn't even use two different wallets, that would leave an open opportunity for confusion and mistakes. Just put it in your pocket and leave it there.

The three dollars cash money is a bit excessive, don't you think? Lol

They make cell phone cases that are designed to hold credit cards and your ccl can be slipped between the phone and case. That is if your good about having your phone with you...

ALfiremedic.the fact is either absolutely nothing would happen or the local LEO could make as big a deal out of it as they want.so it kindof depends on what town or county you are in that day.I live in calhoun county and our local LEO's are pretty good about stuff like that but i do alot of business in etowah and jefferson counties and their LEO's are well known for being heartless bastards.you might consider one of those CCW holsters or cred cases that have the CCW badge on them both also have a slot for your actual CCW so if you say use the holster like this you are never without your permit

Not much to say to a dumby that can't keep his wallet on him. leave it in the car!! At some point you will have your car broke in to and some bum will clear out your accounts OR a leo will end up cuffing and stuffing you over have a concealed weapon on you. I don't see a problem here. Ether way the problem will be taken care of naturaly. Shack out the un-need junk from the wallet and learn to carry ,or don't . It a personal problem. hehehehe Maybe a ccw badge with your ccw paper work on the back side!!

Just for kicks and giggles, I just counted the stuff in my billfold. There were 16 items, besides a small amount of cash, and including two spare keys. There is no way to organize that stuff in a money clip. Also when I pull out my billfold, the casual bystander can't see whether, or how much cash is in there.

I can't imagine how I would ever keep up with my billfold, or for that matter, my pocket knife, keys, etc. if they weren't always either in my pocket, or on my dresser. Using this system, I have never lost a billfold, and I really can't recall ever losing a pocket knife; at least in the last 50 years. I have, however, had my car broken into, three times, resulting in stuff being cabbaged.

The glove compartment of a car is a hot-spot for thieves anyway. It is much easier for them to get my stuff there than from my back pocket.

In my state, it is required that the permit be with the gun, and I try to not give law enforcement any reason to interact with me.
