"Where does that leave the nation? Exactly where it has been. A place where criminals and crazy people can too easily get their hands on firearms capable of inflicting mass slaughter."

They pointed out the root cause. They should try focussing on the crazies and the criminals to solve the root of the issue. Narrow minded people give narrow ranging results.

What loophole are they referring too, there is a mandatory background check system in place for gun purchases, both online and at gun shows. The only people that are exempt from doing a background check are private individuals selling an occasional gun.

The loophole they are referring to is the private seller that would sell his/her gun to anyone that had the cash, no matter what. I have seen this happen with my own eyes at gunshows. Selling to someone who I would check my wallet after they passed by nevermind sell a gun to.
